The Withdean Duathlon (6/30/6k) was run in near perfect conditions near Brighton, East Sussex this morning. Somehow the organiser missed out on getting it into Tri247's calendar... The men's race was a very close battle between Jez Cox (Team Christians In Sport), Christophe Declerck (a Belgian that was visiting the UK this weekend after doing the European Powerman last weekend) and local TT legend James Deer (Team In Gear). The course was particularly hard, tracing its way along the edge of the infamous 'Devils Dyke' on both the run and bike.

Jez Cox was in the lead after the first run, just ahead of Declerck with a minute or so back to Deer. By the end of the bike Cox was clear in the lead by just under around 40 seconds from Deer who had moved up to third with an awsome bike split. However, on the final run Declerk showed great speed to come back and steal the win! Cox finished second and Deer was third.

The winning woman was former Powerman Zofingen winner, Kerry McGawly (BodyWorks XTC) who was right up amongst the men in the field. Results will be up on www.metaphorevents.co.uk soon.
