Its great to have the opportunity to write a column giving you my perspective on the world of duathlon, and all the more so that it will be a regular feature on Duathlon247, a website which is totally dedicated to the sport and its future.

I want to do it in a way which is entertaining and interesting for you so I start with a request for you all to tell me what interests you most about the sport and what would you most like to hear about. To give some focus here's a brief list of topics I think are important and which I intend to dedicate future column inches to. If you don’t agree or have other issues which interest you more, or have questions, however controversial, that you want to ask then let me know by emailing me at clive@duathlon247.com

Internationally

  • Are The International Triathlon Union really interested in supporting the sport of Duathlon?
  • What's the role of its Duathlon Committee and how will this change with the new multisports committee set up to look after long distance tri, winter tri and cross as well as duathlon?
  • Is the current ITU elite points series a success and if not why not?
  • What's the perspective on ITU and BTF support for age-groupers and what happened to the age-group passport idea?
  • Is there any money in the ITU pot to broaden and expand its elite points series and athletes support?
  • What's happening if anything to progress the relationship of ITU with the Powerman organisation and why is it taking so long?
  • Could a new umbrella organisation emerge for the world of duathlon, well funded and dedicated to the sport?
  • What are the chances of the sport becoming an Olympic sport and what about the World Student Games and World Games opportunities?

Nationally

  • On the domestic scene what IS the BTF's real commitment to Duathlon, is the ranking series a little stale, where are the new events and does the World Champs in Edinburgh 2010 herald a new beginning for the sport in GB?
  • Is the GB elite performance programme so totally committed to Olympic triathlon that its not interested in anybody if you cant swim?
  • Who's who in the world of GB Elite Duathlon?
  • Who's up and and coming, and has the arguable Great Britain/Belgian strangle hold of the sport at World and European Championship elite level ended and if so which countries are emerging as the ones to watch?

Don’t forget let me know what you want to hear about, nothing sensible and ”legal” is off limits!
