![]() Humber Duathlon race report Posted on: Monday 14th September 2009 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment The second Humber Duathlon of the year organised by 3xTri was staged on the iconic Humber Bridge on Sunday with Andy Martin and Jill Dowson crowned as male and female champions. The 10km, 40km, 5km race uses the Humber Bridge for both runs and the fast A63 for the cycle route. The men's race saw Andy Martin lead from start to finish despite continued pressure from Peter Fielding-Smith and Steve Coates. Andy`s race tactics of pushing hard early on proved to work as he strode away against a head wind on the bridge to lead off the run with a 36.42 split, following this with a 1hr 33 second bike leg and 21.12 second run. His 1.59.10 time was the only sub 2hr time of the day. Jill Dowson racing in her first duathlon was a smiling finisher as her 2hr 30min race secured 23rd place and 1st female. The small numbers and friendly atmosphere of the race, combined with its iconic setting and fast bike leg make this an excellent event and one that is likely to grow. The next duathlon event takes place in Apr 2009, the next Humber Sprint Triathlon is on 4 Oct 2009. 3xtri website www.3xtri.com Full results HERE. ![]() 0 comments | Post a comment |
