![]() Race report: Jekyll & Hyde Park Hallowe'en duathlon Posted on: Monday 26th October 2009 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend The Jekyll & Hyde Park Hallowe'en duathlon usually has a large fun component, perhaps because it is held late in the triathlon season or early in the duathlon season and because it is held in central London it also attracts many multisport first timers. This year, however, with Thames Turbo and Ful-on Tri separated by one point at the top of the London League, the hallowe’en costumes were gone and the gloves were off for the final race of the series. Over a third of the entries were snapped up by these clubs within hours of them going on sale. At this stage the two clubs were even although league victory seemed guaranteed for Ful-On Tri, but on the day Turbos showed the clear dominance that they needed; winning the top two places for both men (Andrew Mercer, James Brown) and women (Ester Evans, Victoria Gill) and the men’s and women’s team prizes. This created a tie for the league decided in Thames Turbo’s favour on count back. This was Hyde Park’s original multisport race and although now eclipsed by bigger events, it retains the elements of competition and fun, typified when Jo Carritt won embalmed as a mummy. This year’s fancy dress winner was Patricia Queen of the desert complete with hot pink bike and shoes. For a full set of results click HERE. |
