Powerman are please to announce a new addition to their 2010 events calendar - Powerman Muncie. The event, which takes place on 2nd October will be raced over the 10k, 60k, 10k format. Rumour has it that this is not the only new race that's going to be added to the calendar and an announcement that a new European event is imminent.

Steve Tomboni, CEO of Muncie Multi-Sport had this to say about the new addition to the 2010 Powerman calendar:

“After our first conversation with Powerman it was obvious to both parties that Muncie would be an outstanding location for this event. Our international reputation after the ITU World's 1996 event was awesome. It is one of the best venues in America for this type of race. Prairie Creek is an outstanding course that features the perfect 20k lap around the lake with rolling hills and is a challenging run course considered by many to be difficult.”

Powerman International and Muncie Multi-Sport, Inc. will invite all of the top 10 rated men and women duathletes globally to race in a series of events which will include three duathlons.

The Powerman Muncie event will be the final event for the Muncie Multi-Sport company in 2010. It will be preceded by a series of races that include the Muncie May Duathlon on May 15th followed by triathlon, duathlon and 5k/10k run events scheduled for June 12th, August 7th and September 4th. Prairie Creek Reservoir will be the site for all of these events.

John Raadschelders, President, International Powerman Association had this to say about the announcement:

“Powerman International, the international governing organization for duathlon events, would like to welcome Powerman Muncie, produced by Muncie Multi-Sport to the family of Powerman events held across the world and in the United States. We are thrilled that Steven Tomboni(MMSI) and the beautiful town, Muncie, will be part of the Powerman World series from 2010. Muncie has a strong background in organizing international sport events. Also very importantly the community of Muncie have showen in the past that they love multi-sports. I am sure Powerman Muncie will be seen, worldwide, as the happening Powerman duathlon that you have to be at.”

Tammy Tomboni, co-owner of Muncie Multi-Sport added:

“Muncie Multi-Sport is proud to have Powerman International join the family of events planned in Muncie for the spring, summer and fall of 2010. We are excited to once again invite athletes from across the globe to Muncie for Powerman. Our community came together as never before in 1996 and the display of hoosier hospitality was indeed remembered by all the athletes who attended.” The event was awarded the 1996 International Race of the Year by the ITU."

Muncie Multi-Sport plans to have a week long series of events that will include a sports equipment trade show on October 1st at the Horizon Convention Center. Powerman Muncie on Saturday will feature the non professional events starting at 8am and the professional event beginning at 1pm. Tentative plans call for a PowerKids duathlon for ages 8-14 on Sunday. The start and finish for Powerman Muncie 2010 and all of the other Muncie Multi-Sport events will be Prairie Creek Reservoir.
