![]() Durham Tri launches City of Durham Duathlon and adds club team competit Posted on: Monday 25th January 2010 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend Durham Triathlon Club have announced details of their well established spring run-bike-run event, the City of Durham Duathlon. Based at Meadowfield Leisure Centre in Durham on Sunday 18th April, the event comprises of undulating runs around the adjacent parkland and a testing bike ride through County Durham. The bike split includes a one mile climb up Buttons Bank from Esh Winning, followed by a long fast descent on the return to Brandon. To add spice for 2010, the event includes a team competition, where the first three athletes across the line from each club will count in the team standings. Ellen Anne Finninghan, Race Organiser from Durham Tri commented: “With the help of Durham County Council and new group of active members from Durham Tri, we have upgraded our event for 2010. We are keen to attract a strong field from both local clubs and beginners new to the sport. For Clubs in the region, we offer the opportunity to compete against local rivals in a team competition. Despite the responsibility of marshalling the event, Durham Tri will enter strong teams in both male and female categories and we challenge our neighbouring clubs race us on our home patch! “To encourage newcomers we offer the option to team up with friends and enter as a relay with two runners and one cyclist. Our website has a section dedicated to the event where entrants can get full race details, route maps, briefing notes and on-line entry. If all that is not enough, with an entry fee of only £20, (£17 for students) the City of Durham Duathlon will be the best value for money race on the 2010 calendar.” Visit www.durhamtri.org for further event details and race briefing notes. |
