The number of entries for the Clumber Park Classic Duathlon on 6th March has been extended to meet demand. Acting as the first qualification opportunity for the 2010 Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships in September, the Clumber Duathlon has been overwhelmingly popular.

The Clumber Classic event covers the standard distances of a 10km run, 40km bike and 5km run and there is a sprint distance event covering 5k, 20km and 2.5km. Competitors in the standard distance will not only have the opportunity to qualify for the British Age Group Team, but also claim points in the Taut British Duathlon National Ranking Series.

The run sections take place within the beautiful Clumber Park on a private tree lined road, which is fully closed for the race. The bike course takes place on long rolling roads around the Sherwood Forest area of north Nottinghamshire, with a few short challenging sections to test early season fitness.

The sprint distance event is ideal for novices, and whilst entries for the standard distance are likely to be closed after this weekend, entries for the sprint will remain open, offering an ideal opportunity for competitors to test their fitness or try their first duathlon.

Competitors wishing to be considered for the British Team for the World Championships (3rd-5th September 2010) should register with their home nation through the British Triathlon website and enter the Classic distance race as soon as possible.
